Superior Plus Employee Spotlight October 2024
As a company, we are only as good as our employees. They make us who we are with their hard work and dedication to their roles. When an employee goes beyond the duties his or her role requires, we feel that deserves extra recognition. The employee spotlight section of our blog recognizes those employees. This month, we are recognizing Tammy Griffith for not only going beyond her professional duties, but for displaying compassion and empathy for her co-workers and customers in difficult times.
Tammy Griffith, Regional Info. /Data Analyst, South Region
Tammy Griffith began her career in the propane industry in 2002 at Freeman Gas, a member of the Superior Plus Propane family of brands. She joined the Freeman team as a customer service representative, and within a few years became the regional coordinator for customer service representatives. Tammy’s focus was working closely with the customer service representatives. She handled everything from interviewing candidates, to hiring new employees and then teaching and guiding them in their roles. Tammy eventually became the interim administrative assistant for the Vice President of Freeman Gas and transitioned to her current role in June of 2021.
Compassion and Empathy Are the Keys to Navigating Difficult Situations
In September 2024, Hurricane Helene struck the southeastern part of the U.S. While many of our customers, employees and offices were negatively affected by this terrible storm, it spawned Tammy into action. She knew she needed to do whatever she could to help her co-workers and customers. Since the storm occurred, she has been participating in our hurricane relief efforts and working with her regional team as well as teams from throughout the company to help mitigate the damage as well as keep operations running smoothly. Of this, Tammy said, “our team along with teams from other regions all coming together to help each other with no hesitation has been the most emotional and amazing project ever.”
Tammy’s co-workers have noticed her efforts. Misty Strong, a customer service representative in North Carolina, said she didn’t know how her team would have made it through the hurricane and its aftermath without Tammy. “She has teams of ladies all over the south helping us out in any way possible. She personally went and shopped and bought us nonperishable food and anything else we needed while many of us dealt with not having power and/or water for ten plus days.” Misty said Tammy has been a sounding board for many co-workers through this difficult time, as well. “If it’s even just someone to call and vent to, which I did several times during this whole process, to uploading documents because we couldn’t, she is always there.”
Tammy’s empathy and compassion for her co-workers have been truly helping everyone navigate the damage caused by Hurricane Helene. When asked about her assistance, Tammy said she could never do this by herself—that it is all about teamwork.
Outside the Office
When Tammy isn’t busy working or helping those in need, she enjoys spending time with friends and family. Her favorite activities are Jeep riding and hanging out on the lake in the warm months and crafting in the colder months.
Well-deserved Recognition
Tammy, we at Superior Plus are proud to have an employee like you who goes above and beyond the call of duty to help your co-workers and customers when they need it most. We hope now that things are getting back on track in the southeast, you will have much time for Jeep rides and crafting. Thank you, Tammy!
