Superior Plus Propane Employee Spotlight February 2024

In this edition of our Employee Spotlight blog, we are pleased to recognize Walter Sprague, a long-time employee in the propane industry who has worked his way up through his career to become a Field Operations Supervisor.

Walter Sprague, Plattsburgh and Port Henry, NY

Walter began his propane industry career at 16, joining Walt’s Propane as a technician in training, assisting in deliveries, tank installs, and burner and appliance service.

In 2011, Superior Plus acquired Walt’s Propane, and Walter’s journey evolved through diverse roles, including service technician, tank wagon driver, bobtail driver, safety champion, driver trainer, and propane specialist.  In November 2023, Walter took on the position of Field Operations Supervisor (FOS), in the Plattsburgh and Port Henry, NY CSCs.

Personal Interaction with Colleagues Makes His Job Fulfilling

When asked what he loves most about his job, Walter replied, “It’s the people I interact with every day. I’ve had the pleasure to meet and learn from a number of great professionals at Superior, and they’ve continued to support me in my new role as FOS.”

He also added, “I cannot say enough about the safety culture at Superior, and how we always strive to put our people in the best possible positions to succeed. Whether it’s through technological advances or evolving operational practices, I have always felt that we are continuing to create a better experience and environment.”

Life Outside the Office

Outside of work, Walter likes driving and attending car shows with his wife, LeeAnn, in his 1979 Chevy Corvette. They have been happily married for almost seven years (together for 14 years) and have three dogs – Audi, Holden, and Bentley.

Residing in the Adirondacks region of New York, close to Vermont’s Green Mountains, they spend the summers hiking. Walter, a devoted Pittsburgh Steelers and Los Angeles Lakers fan, also treasures time with his three nephews.

Walter exemplifies the dedication and passion that make our company a great place to work. His journey at Superior Plus is a testament to the opportunities and growth that define our culture.
